When it comes to breast tumor, survival rate strongly correlates early detection and treatment.
The interest of thermal imaging is the objective suspicion of tumor at a stage where size of tissue disorder often below the detection threshold of usual techniques such as Mammography or Ultra Sound.
The principle is an contact-less screening which aims at detecting irregularities in the symmetry of temperature distribution rather than the measurement and comparison of absolute temperatures. Dissymmetric surface temperature pattern, if observed at successful imaging sessions, possibly translates the presence of a tumor. Advanced imaging techniques and/or biopsy might be implemented to better locate and qualify the suspect tissue… ultimately saving patient’s life.
